This Chilean Shiraz pours a deep ruby red, and has a light aroma of blackberries and chocolate. To the taste it is full bodied, rich in berry and chocolate spices, along with a hint of vanilla where you might expect some oak to be. It has a long lasting finish that fades leaving a dry earthy taste, which is most pleasant. For the price it would be hard to beat, and is easily worth at least twice that.
The Chili Shiraz Vina Maipo Reserva 2011 is produced in the Chilean Central Valley, where there is exceptional and unexploited soil. The vines in this region enjoy, or is that tolerate) the massive temperature swings between night and day, which make the grapes so unique and full of magnificent flavours.
