Description: |
Les Vignobles Foncalieu Les Illustres Coteaux D’Ensérune 2009 pours a deep red, and immediately releases the heady aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant, intertwined with raspberry, vanilla and hints of cinnamon. In the mouth the wine is smooth and expansive, filling up with ripe dark plum and forest fruits, maintaining a perfect balance between freshness and consistent smoothness of taste. As the flavour develops, you pick out the well involved oak and deeper chocolate and spices. The finish is lang and smooth, finally releasing the hidden leather and earth flavours, making this one of the best wines I have had this year.
Les Vignobles Foncalieu Les Illustres Coteaux D’Ensérune 2009 comes in a very heavy bottle, with a deep dimple on the bottom that catches any natural sediment. The bottle has high shoulders and looks like a 1 litre size even though it is not, and it weighs at least twice the weight of a regular bottle. If the bottle seems imposing, then it is only in balance with the superb quality of this wine. Les Illustres is from Coteaux D’Ensérune which is one of the new IGP (Indication Geographique Protegee) regions first incorporated in 2009. It is one of the flagship wines from Les Vignobles Foncalieu and is available to the public at good wine stores. |
