Poncho Chilli Sauces – Really Hot Stuff

July 9, 2012 by Simon Narracott Leave a Comment

I was invited to a barbeque to try the latest Poncho No8 chilli sauces which are to be sold through Harvey Nichols. The barbeque was held on the roof of their PR company, and gave us a good view across London. Fortune smiled on us that evening and the rain held off, allowing the barbeque to do its thing and the Poncho8 sauces to be sampled.

There were three to try:
Smokey Medium is a very mild and sweet smokey tasting sauce, ideal for chicken.
Garlic Chilli is a hot, tangy chilli with a hint of garlic, ideal I thought for ham, bacon etc.
The Super Hot Fuego is to chilli sauce what the ‘M Series’ is to BMW. They say it is 300 times hotter than regular hot chilli, and having tasted it I can vouch for that description. It comes in its own aluminium bottle so you know its going to be something special. This is not one to smear on food but to use to spice up a whole dish like soup or sauces.

Sadly, I had to rush off to a prior engagement, which is a shame as the guys and girls from Poncho8 and their PR seemed like really fun people.  If they ever have another event then I hope to go back as the combination of a good chilli sauce and a barbeque should not be missed.
