Description: |
On pouring you get a glass of dark golden colour with a fizzing foam, and the aroma of fresh green apples. To taste, the mouth is filled with frothy bubbles in the cider and a gentle but growing apple taste, t give a full body. The finish is fast, leaving only the slightest hint of apple and a slightly ‘over-bubbled’ taste in the mouth. For a cider that has been fermented in 100 year old oak barrels, this is a real disappointment; In isolation it may tick every cider drinkers wishlist. Yes it tastes of apples, yes it has the right aroma, but it has too much fizz and not enough working together within it to be pleasing.
This cider is made by Thatchers Cider Company Ltd for Tesco, and they have a reputation for creating good cider. Sadly in this instance I think they created the cider they were asked for, but it misses the mark in so many ways. Check out Tesco Finest Oak Matured Still Cider for an example of how good Tesco’s finest can be. Serve chilled and enjoy with cold food or by itself. |
