This Thatchers 2011 Vintage Oak Aged Somerset Cider pours a dark gold colour, with a big head that falls back to just leave a background foam in the glass. It has the aroma of dry apples and that leads into the taste, full of fresh apples, at first sweet and then moving to a dry richness of fruit. This Vintage cider is matured in oak vats, and this oak flavour is apparent in the flavour, acting as a subtle undertone that maintains the dryness. It is almost buttery in places. The lingering taste is of crunchy dry oaked apples, and leaves you wanting to come back for more.
Thatchers have been making cider for over 100 years in Somerset, and produce a range of drinks that really showcase the range of possibilities that cider can have. Thatchers 2011 Vintage Oak Aged Somerset Cider is just one in a range of Thatcher ciders that have refinement, smoothness, and high alcohol content. |
