This Waitrose Cidre De Normandie 2011 Vintage is a surprise variation from the regular cider taste. It pours a sparkling light gold, with a nice short head. The aroma is full of honey and mead, with a hint of apple coming through later.
To the taste it is full of honey, sweet, then bittersweet with the apple flavour developing in the mouth. The high acidity and sharpness of the apples is contained by the sweetness of the honey and mead flavours so it works in harmony together. The refreshing zing from the inherent sparkle and bubbles make this a very light uplifting drink. This French Waitrose Cidre De Normandie 2011 Vintage is made at Ciderie Anneville in Normandy. It is produced from Gros Oeillet cider apples which have high acidity, and that allows the fermentation to occur naturally in a way that creates a light sparkle within the cider. I have to say that I have not had a cider that has been so well wrapped in other flavours. This Waitrose Cidre De Normandie 2011 Vintage is definitely one to try, and a superb example of the master cider-makers art. |
