Asahi Premium Black Lager

Asahi Premium Black Lager - Back
Description: This Asahi Premium Black Lager pours black, unless held up to the light where it appears a deep reddish brown. It has a fine creamy foam that lasts, and sitting on top of the black body you expect something heavy. Far from it; It fills the nose with a dry aroma of dark chocolate and burnt malt. To the taste it is bright, quite dry, but without any bitterness, and a light slightly tingling effect from the bubbles that lasts throughout the drink. The finish is clean and dry, leaving only the slightest lingering of malt.

Overall it is a pleasant drinking beer, but doesn’t stand out. This could be purely due to the presentation not matching the expectation of taste. You wouldn’t be disappointed with this beer, but wouldn’t rave about it.

Asahi is aimed at the more affluent end of the market, similar to Stella Artois, with most resellers selling the only Asahi Super Dry rather than the full range.

Asahi means “rising sun” in Japanese.
