This 2008 Barolo pours a full bright red and has a soft aroma of red cherry and cinnamon. To the taste it is dry and full bodied, with woody forest tastes mixed with cherry and plum softness. Much more of a mouthful than you might expect this is not a wine to drink on its own, but cries out for good food; it comes alive with a nice cheese. The high 14% abv doesn’t translate to a warm finish but does add to the depth of volume and body in the wine, which gives a really nice appeal.
The bottle presentation, with a real cork and individually numbered label make this wine look a lot more expensive than it is. |
