Bottlegreen Elderflower Gin & Tonic

This is the Classic Elderflower G&T. Use a pure elderflower cordial from Bottlegreen Drinks Co. and the quintessentially British Gordons Gin to come up with the smoothest summertime G&T.

Bottlegreen Elderflower Gin & Tonic - Highball

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Gordons Gin
  • 5ml Bottlegreen Elderflower Cordial
  • Lime
  • Mint or Strawberry
  • Cucumber
  • Schweppes Tonic Water

Method:

  • Use a chilled glass, either a highball or a tumbler.
  • Add 50ml of Gordons Gin and 5ml of Bottlegreen Elderflower Cordial and mix well.
  • Now add ice to half fill the glass and stir well. This has the effect of freezing the mixed liquid and makes the elderflower infuse more with the gin.
  • Squeeze a wedge of lime into the glass.
  • Add cucumber; very thin slices if using a tumbler, or longer edge strips if using a highball to give that professional look.
  • Top up with Tonic, and stir briefly.
  • Add a sprig of mint or strawberry to the top.

The Greenbottle Elderflower adds a delicate sweetness and aroma to the G&T, and can best be described as filling in any of the sharpness found in a raw gin and tonic. Beware of adding too much cordial as it can quickly become too sweet, so use a measuring teaspoon to get 5ml. It is better to add less until you get the measure you like most.

Also, cucumber in a drink is refreshing, but it is a remarkably fragrant vegetable when put in water so use the thinnest slices you can, and if possible resist stirring them too much so as to limit how much they infuse with the drink.
