Deep ruby red in colour, this has the gentle aroma of blackcurrants. Somewhat light bodied it has a smooth taste of blackcherry and dark plums, but without any of the woody complexity you might like to find in a higher priced wine. Not refreshing enough or smooth enough to be drunk enjoyably on its own, this wine is best taken with food.
The bottle is superbly labeled, and looks like it could easily be 5 times the price. It is sure to impress your friends.
This Calvet Bordeaux Superieur 2010 is part of the Aldi Core Collection so should be available all year round.
