Dining and drinking at Floridita is an experience, with a variety of live music and entertainment every night of the week, it combines delicious food with fabulous cocktails. Now Floridita has added Rum Shack for those wanting an even more Latin America cocktail experience.
The Rum Shack is located under the restaurant’s iconic sweeping staircase, which is part of Floridita’s show-stopping architecture. The new space reflects the vibrant culture of Cuba and Latin America, with the celebrated Floridita ethos of vibrancy, glamour and theatre.
At the base of the stairs it opens up to reveal the bar, dance floor, private tables and the restaurant area
On stage was a Latin band, knocking out sounds that were full of summer, rythms, and VOLUME. It was loud, and you felt the urgency to get a rum cocktail in your hand and join in the fun.
Floridita boasts the most extensive selection of rums in Europe, and offers hundreds of rum cocktails, which celebrates the huge versatility of rum with cocktails inspired from around the globe. The bar is busy and heaving, so it helps if you know what you want – which is made simpler by an extensive cocktail list you can choose from.
The Rum Shack bar walls, made of reclaimed wood, are accented by vintage neon lights, palm trees, rum barrel tables, retro signage, flags and fishing nets to recreate the spirit of Cuba in the heart of London. Mix with this the sounds of the band and you could almost be in Cuba.
You can choose from cocktails such as Hemingway Punch: a delicious blend of Barcardi Superior and Maraschino Liqueur inspired by Ernest Hemingway, In a Barrel: a concoction of absinthe, gomme, lemon & orange juice, shaken with Pussers Blue Rum and served in a barrel vessel.
And there is the famous Cheeky Monkey: a blend made using Chairman’s Reserve – mellow on the palate with a complex mix of ripe raisin fruit, tobacco and spice – served in a tiki glass inside a coconut Monkey! This one seems to be their most popular cocktail. Its fun and full of flavour and Latin passion.
The bar staff show off with their mixing of drinks, and the amazing talent of being able to make more than one different cocktail at a time. Shaking and mixing cocktails can be handed to you are the bar or taken to your table.
Beach wear isn’t obligatory, but can make the event more fun!
This is the ideal place to go for a fun, loud, crazy night out. The music is loud and pumping out typical Cuban rythms, exactly as in the movies, and the girls and guys visiting there make an effort to look good. Until the word gets out about the Rum Shack, you can probably get in without having to queue. Definitely worth a Friday night in town for.
Want an idea of the event? Watch the video below, but turn the speakers down!
The bar is open from 5.30pm to 3.00am making it the perfect location to begin or end your evening in the Soho area. It can also be hired for exclusive private bookings – the ultimate beach party. Don’t forget the food there either. You can enjoy delicious Latin American inspired cuisine in the restaurant area alongside your cocktails, and eat, drink and watch the clubs events.
