Description: |
This sparkling rose is described on the bottle as having 50% less alcohol than a standard sparkling Merlot rose. The Silver Series denotes it as part of the reduced alcohol wine range from Aldi.
On pouring you get a large foam head that doesn’t linger, leaving a sparkling, very peachy pink, rose wine emitting a stream of steady fine bubbles. The aroma is light and peachy, the first taste being full of summer red berries and orchard leaves. The flavour stays with the wine, you mouth tickled by the release of bubbles, until the finish which has a slight lingering sweet peachiness. It leaves the mouth with the temperature it was served at; the low alcohol gives the wine little body (which is OK in a cheap sparkling wine) but it also none of the alcohol warmth and clarity a regular wine would have. Over all though, this is a pleasant drink in a party atmosphere, and most people could not tell that it was not a regular sparkling Merlot Rose. A low cost and easy way to keep the alcohol content down when drinking. This wine is part of the Aldi Silver Series of reduced alcohol wines range for 2013. |
