This summer, small batch rum MOUNT GAY® Black Barrel has teamed up with two bars to bring a taste of Barbados to East London with three delicious and expertly mixed cocktails (recipes below). Perfect to sip on a warm, sunny evening, the cocktails showcase the Black Barrel blend and will be available exclusively throughout the month of August at The Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings (EC1R) and Bird of Smithfield (EC1A).

‘Water of Life’ (£10) will be featured on the bar menu at the chic all-day dining space, The Bourne and Hollingsworth Buildings in Clerkenwell. The cocktail comprises MOUNT GAY® Black Barrel with Riesling, coconut water, cocchi Americano, Orgeat and lemon juice, creating a refreshing and invigorating drink.

Based in a five storey Georgian townhouse next to Smithfield Market, Bird of Smithfield has created two MOUNT GAY® Black Barrel cocktails to be enjoyed on their stunning summer roof terrace. The sweet tasting ‘Sail Away’ (£10), will transport you to a tropical island – and includes MOUNT GAY® Black Barrel, lime and grapefruit, garnished with dark chocolate, pistachios, a vanilla pod and grapefruit foam. For something even more tropical, their ‘Summer Island cocktail’ (insert price) combines pineapple juice, cherry compote and fig liqueur, garnished with sweet and sour pineapple.

Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum

The latest from Master Blender Allen Smith, Black Barrel is a small batch handcrafted blend made of matured double pot distillates and aged column distillates. The blended rum is then matured for a second time in deeply charred Bourbon Oak barrels for a bold & spicy finish. That second maturation also gives it an oaky vanilla and sweet caramel body. As such it is versatile and can be drunk neat, over ice, or in a cocktail (obviously!).
