itemprop=”image” | Description | This Pizzorno Merlot Tannat 2010 from Uruguay pours a deep impressive dark red, yet is fragrant and floral with light fruits of raspberry and summer blossoms. Rich and smooth on the tongue from the first sip, it embodies the taste of raspberry coulis, elderflower, rosehip, summer ripe plums and a hint of mountain heather spices. The flavours all work together to give a very light body that is uplifting and pleasing. Rounding in the mouth, the fruit remains, slightly fading to more plum and chocolate/toffee hints. The finish is long and lingering, yet still uplifting and refreshingly light.
At the recommended serving temperature of between 18 and 20c, the wine is full of fruit and floral perfumes as already described. However, at cooler temperatures, the fruit withdraws and the wine seems almost watery, and any flavour needing to be forced out as it warms on the tongue. With your eyes closed you would think it was a white wine! This wine is a good example of how important temperature is when serving wine. |
