A great new cocktail and jazz club opens this summer with the Hutch Club at Quaglino’s, and will be running from 1st June to 31st August. A glamorous mix of cocktails and jazz in a spacious club environment that aims to recreate the original spirit of Quaglino’s, in true Gatsby style, when it first opened in 1929.
The Hutch Club is named after Leslie Hutchinson, one of the most popular jazz/cabaret entertainers of the last century. He was a bit of a wild character, often arriving at nightclubs he wanted to play at, all dressed up and with a white piano strapped to his car. He is renowned for moulding the shape and sound of jazz in New York City.
Cocktails made with some of the most exclusive drinks brands including Courvoisier, The Macallan, and Elit Stolichnaya Vodka are concocted in front of you to some 20’s recipes. Champagne is always on hand, and that so suits the whole atmosphere of the place.
Also in keeping with Hutch’s wild yet refined tastes, visitors to Quaglino’s Hutch Club will be able to try a delicious selection of alcohol-infused small plates: Salmon Tartar with Vodka Jelly & Herring Roe; Oyster & Gin Soup with Lime & Coriander; Duck Breast with Cognac, Cherry & Chilli and Smoked Chocolate Ice Cream with Whisky Cream & Mandarin Popcorn.
I didn’t get to try any of the cocktails, so I’ll tell you about them when I go back.
