Description: |
On pouring you get a glass of very light, fine bubble cider, with only the slightest aroma of apples and a hind of buttermilk. The single apple variety, Katy, leads to a distinctive taste that is pleasing, but it is much lighter than a regular cider. It could almost be drunk as a replacement to Cava or cheap Champagne, its taste is so delicate and the bubbles so fine. The bubbles keep forming in the glass without generating any real head, exactly like a Cava. Its high alcohol content gives it a body and enhances the smoothness of the finish that you would expect more from a wine than a coder. That said, it has a medium dry finish that doesn’t leave you with an apple taste.
Thatchers have been making cider for over 100 years in Somerset, and produce a range of drinks that really showcase the range of possibilities that cider can have. Thatchers Katy Cider is alongside some of the vintage ciders in terms of refinement, smoothness, and high alcohol content. Serve chilled and enjoy with cold food or by itself. |
