Villa Antinori Rosso Toscana 2008

August 4, 2012 by Simon Narracott Leave a Comment

Villa Antinori Toscana 2008

Region: Italy, Tuscany
Grapes: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah
Description: A medium bodied wine that opens with aromas of black cherries, smoke, licorice and tar, leading to a smooth woody taste of some complexity. A long, intense finish rounds things out to give an overall pleasing mouth.
Price: £14.99
ABV: 13.5%
Closure: Cork
Source: Waitrose
Occasion: Roasted red peppers
Comments: Villa Antinori is predominantly Sangiovese, with some Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. This makes the wines predictably well defined with medium to full bodied, and yet each blend makes for a slight variation on each year which has to be appreciated. This is a wine ready to drink now.
